Okay, raise your hand if you think Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. You'll be shocked. You'll be shocked to learn that Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb.
The light bulb was invented 200 years ago by an English chemist called Humphry Davy. Humphry Davy showed that using electricity, you could generate light. What Edison did was he figured out a way to keep the bulb constantly turned on. That's all he did.
Thomas Edison invented a method to keep the light bulb turned on. Humphry Davy invented the light bulb 200 years before Thomas Edison.
