Personal Protective Equipment, PPE!

Transcript:

So all this stuff that we wear is called personal protective equipment. It's called PPE. So there's gloves to protect your hand. There's earplugs so that loud noise doesn't hurt your ears. And there's the helmet with the chin strap so that if there is a force on the helmet from the back, it doesn't fly off. Then there are these protective eyeglasses. And all of these things are mandatory.

Except — they don't keep you safe. They are the last line of defence. The attitude of work, doing things thoughtfully, slowly, not rushing — these are the things that keep you safe. This PPE is the last line of defence. If your attitude is not safe work, no amount of PPE is going to save you. You're going to die on the job.

And the rule is — zero is the right number. Not even one person should die.
