The IgNobel Award

Transcript:

So, last year in September—September 2024—MIT hosted the 34th Ig Nobel Prize ceremony. Now if you haven't heard about this, Ig Nobel, (I-G Nobel) is an award like the Nobel Prize, but this time for the weirdest and the most essentially useless research. For example, some of the winners include a study using cadavers—cadavers means dead bodies—a study using cadavers to check whether each nostril has the same number of hair. Another study was studying the sensations that a person experiences when they use the same word many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many times. For example, a whole list of these Ig Nobel awards is available on the internet. You can watch it. Here's the website also; you can just type it in. It's pretty interesting what people are working on.
