In his book Guns, Germs, and Steel, Jared Diamond makes an interesting observation. He says that on average, the peoples of the modern Stone Age were more intelligent than peoples of the Industrial Age.

And that is because these tests of cognitive ability like the intelligence quotient or the IQ test, these cognitive ability tests tend to measure cultural learning and not innate intelligence.
