Ecological Footprint.

Transcript:

So, if everybody in the world lived like one country lives and uses up all the resources that one country uses up, how many Earths do you think we will need? This is an interesting question, and I found this clever graphic that gives an answer. Look at this.

So, these so-called advanced countries, like the United States, their lifestyle is so wasteful that if everybody lived like the U.S. people live, we would need about five Earths. UAE is even worse; you need six Earths. China, which is now coming out of the development phase and progressing towards the developed world, already would require 2.5 Earths. India is the only country, as of now, that requires one Earth to survive.

So, if everybody lived like the Indians, we would be okay because we have one Earth. We don't have five Earths, or six Earths, or two and a half Earths. It's very important to define development, or so-called development, in terms of ecological footprint.
