Phone call vs Text message - Part 2.

Transcript:

In the second study, they had a group of girls, teenage girls, who were asked to get in touch with their mom. Now, this is a little bit of a love-hate relationship, especially for teenage girls. So, they had a set of girls actually call their moms, and then they had a set of girls text with their mom. Surprisingly, this study showed that calling their mom resulted actually in a boost of oxytocin, the feel-good hormone, whereas texting with their mom actually resulted in a boost of cortisol, the stress hormone. So, these two studies, the one with the long-lost friend and the one with the moms, clearly, absolutely clearly shows the superiority of picking up the phone and talking with somebody, than texting or emailing. Pretty interesting.
