Resonance & Meditation

Transcript:

So, have you heard that when soldiers walk or march across a bridge, they are asked to break step, which means they don't march in unison. The reason is because if all soldiers march in unison across a bridge, it is possible that the bridge starts resonating because of sustained and building up oscillations. And then, because of the resonance, the bridge could collapse. So, the resonance that happens as the soldiers are marching across the bridge is something that emerges from a phenomenon where many things line up. Meditation is exactly like this, except it's in the reverse. When soldiers march across a bridge, resonance comes up and destroys the bridge. When meditation happens, many, many, many, many things line up and then the mind unwinds. And it reaches a calm, unperturbed state. This is what happens in meditation, but we have to work on it. The technique has to be learned. This year, if you do one thing, learn to meditate. We have a session coming up on the 25th of January. It's online on Zoom. The link is in the bio. See you there.
