World Yoga Day!

Happy Yoga Day! June 21st is World Yoga Day. So today, we will look at the six primary exercises that the spine has to go through in a complete yoga set. The first one is flexion—this way, flexion. The second is extension. The third is lateral extension, extending it sideways. The fourth is twisting. The fifth is inversion. And the sixth is axial extension. 

So, the difference between extension and axial extension is that in axial extension, there are two arches to the spine. Both arches are simultaneously extended upward, not upward but straight. They are simultaneously extended. That is called axial extension. So, every yoga sequence that you do must include these six exercises for the spine. And that makes a complete yoga set.
